Exciting dynamics
Acceleration with full power, continuously
When accelerating with full throttle, the controller keeps the engine or E-motor on its speed of full power (and best efficiency), all the time. This way, the vehicle accelerates continuously with full power. If applicable, the engine or E-motor speed is reduced when the maximum allowed tractive effort is reached.
When accelerating, the controller continuously adjusts the transmission ratio without any loss of transmitted power.
Immediate throttle response
When changing the throttle position (even at standstill) the transmission ratio starts changing within the unnoticeable 58 ms. So the driver feels an immediate response on his request for acceleration or for drive-away.
A vehicle with an engine and an RVT launches without the need to rev up the engine first; it accelerates from standstill proportionally to the throttle position with the engine at idle. When speed picks up, the engine accelerates to deliver more power.
